Join us for a Death Penalty Opposition Event - Jeffrey Weisheit’s execution is scheduled for Nov. 5 (just after midnight on Nov. 4th). That of God that existed in him will be dead.
Weisheit was convicted and sentenced to death in the 2010 murders of his girlfriend’s children, Alyssa and Caleb Lynch. His lawyers filed a request for clemency with the Parole Board, seeking a sentence of life without parole. The board will make a recommendation to Gov. Mike Braun, who has the final say.
The Parole Board will meet Monday Oct. 19 in Indiana Government Center South's conference rooms 1 and 2. His lawyers will present evidence in support of clemency from 9 to 11 a.m. The children’s father opposes execution, although he will not give testimony at the hearing. Those opposing the request will speak from 1 to 3 p.m.
In the application, signed Sept. 15, 2026, Weisheit’s lawyers contend that evidence of Mr. Weisheit’s lifelong mental impairments including congenital dysfunctions and the effect of multiple traumatic brain injuries and psychological trauma beginning early in his childhood, were never adequately presented to the courts, the petition states.
Although the Indiana Supreme Court upheld his death sentence during a 2018 post-conviction appeal, Chief Justice Loretta Rush dissented, concluding that ineffective legal representation regarding psychological trauma and impairment warranted a new sentencing proceeding.
